Rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas
All cages are cleaned daily and these pets are provided with fresh timothy hay, pellets (Oxbow) and a salad, depending on the species. If your pet eats a different brand of pellets, we will ask that you bring a small portion that will last for the duration of your pet’s stay. If they have a favorite toy, you can bring the toy to make your pet’s stay more comfortable.
Rabbits are given a fresh litter box daily. We closely monitor their food consumption and stool production to ensure that the gastrointestinal tract is functioning normally, which is critically important for these species. Additionally, we monitor their behaviors and if staff notice any changes, the doctors and owners are notified.
As time allows, we allow our patients to come out of the cage and utilize a private room for exercise.
